Gold embossed bird on patterned paper

After watching a video by Jennifer McGuire, I felt really inspired to try her technique.  I gathered scraps of 3 different types of paper which coordinated and cut them into strips of varying width.
I inked the edges to give more definition to the strips of patterned paper.  Using an ordinary school glue stick, I attached the strips on a piece of cardstock, then once dried used a circle die to cut a circle shape.  I cut a larger circle from turquoise cardstock for the layer underneath.  I then used a bird stamp from my stash and embossed it in gold.  I did the same technique for the sentiment (I used creativ words stamp.)  Ranger super fine gold embossing powder was used for both elements. A simple piece of organza ribbon was used behind the circle and adhered onto cream cardstock which was in turn adhered to the sandy cardbase.  (AC cardstock was used for these.)
I quite liked how it turned out and have entered it into the Cas Colours & sketches cardmaking challenge.
